Madeline McLean '17 of Hood River, Ore., offers an evening of love songs in conjunction with her honors thesis. McLean explores how songs conform to or deviate from stylistic prototypes in given genres — in this case, heartbroken love songs in opera and pop — and how prototypical characteristics shape the singer's performance. The program includes "Ach ich fuhl's" from The Magic Flute, "Porgi Amor" from The Marriage of Figaro, Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" and "All I Ask" by Adele.
