Joanna Hayes '19 of Edwards, Colo., and Shangwei Deng '19 of Portland, Maine, discuss their summer projects undertaken with the support of Phillips Fellowships from Bates. In "Making Latin Modern?," Deng will talk about his time in Rome, the wellspring of Latin, reflecting on the contemporary significance and resonances of that language. Hayes, a dancer who visited Germany, Spain and Austria, will describe dance programs she worked in and how they build relationships with community, self and the cultural milieu. Presented by the Dean of the Faculty's Office. FMI akeegan@bates.edu.
