A composer, conductor, pianist and assistant professor at the Berklee College of Music, Kramer says that Bates is where he decided to become a musician. He composed all of tonight's music, including three reflections on natural phenomena; the 20-minute "Orange Earth/Blue Ether"; an adaptation of the civil rights anthem "We Shall Overcome"; and a selection of "Exultations" and "Meditations."
