A talk by Bruna Benevides, the first trans woman to serve openly in the Brazilian Armed Forces. She holds the rank of 2nd sergeant in the Brazilian Navy and has served for more than 21 years. As a human-rights advocate, Benevides is the first trans woman honored as Woman Citizen by the State Assembly of Rio de Janeiro. She is a founding member of the Brazilian National Network of Public Security Officers, president of the Municipal LGBT Council of Niteroi, R.J., and secretary of the National Association of Travestites and Transsexuals (ANTRA).
